Interactive light installation for London event

28/09/2011
A unique lighting installation was created by BDP for the annual Maggie’s London Night Hike.

The lighting firm created the interactive light installation at Horse Guards Parade for the September 16 event. Colour-change fixtures were used to uplight the architecture of the long archway leading through to the courtyard.

The lighting effects were connected to a control system and microphone which were programmed to react and change according to the sounds made by hikers as they passed through the tunnel.

The courtyard was also filled with hundreds of white helium balloons which were each illuminated with a single LED light.  The hikers then wrote messages on the balloons which were released at the conclusion of the walk.
