Protective Gaskets Provided

We include protective clear Gaskets with most of our Sockets and Switches. These clear gaskets should be fitted on all newly prepared walls that are considered porous. These can include newly plastered or wallpapered surfaces as well as stone or concrete surfaces.

The Gaskets prevent moisture contained in the walls from permeating between the protective lacquer and the metal plates.

If moisture does get under the lacquer you might see a dark staining effect on the plate which cannot be removed.

You can normally remove the gaskets after a period of 6 months although we recommend that in areas of high humidity (kitchens - utility rooms etc) that you keep the gaskets permanently in place.

Do not under any circumstances use any sort of masking tapes or coverings whilst decorating or painting around any electrical switches or sockets - it is standard practice to remove the switch or socket plates before decorating and then you should refit the gaskets supplied until the walls have completely dried out.

We cannot take any responsibility for stained sockets and switches if the gaskets are not used or fitted incorrectly.
